"President Trump Tax Reform" - Conversation Lunch with journalist Paola Tommasi

Paola Tommasi with Donald Trump. In 2016, Paola was a member of the Donald Trump's staff,  she worked as a volunteer in the President election  campaign.

In the tradition of organizing AICR Conversation lunches, this time in cooperation with the Associazione Italiana Fulbright (AIF), (link to other conversations, President Lamberto Dini, journalist Patricia Thomas, Ambassador Giulio Terzi, MP Margherita Boniver) on Monday, February 19th, please, join us at 12.00 pm, for another interesting Conversation lunch, to discuss Trump Tax Reform with an Italian journalist,  Paola Tommasi, who was an eyewitness to the Trump campaign.

Ms Paola Tommasi is a true surprise on the international political scene: one day she decides to leave Italy, to participate as a volunteer in the Trump campaign and, almost by accident, she finds herself at the center of history.

Paola sent an email on LinkedIn to the Trump Electoral Committee, Tim Clark, that at the time had just been elected responsible for the State of California. He replies to her positively and invites her to come to Washington as a volunteer, in the campaign.

Paola, asks, to go on leave at the Chamber of Deputies, where she holds a top position, and decided to leave Italy soon after, she becomes part of the staff of, the future President of the United States , next to whom she works side by side, during the entire campaign.
Paola is 35 years old, with a  Master degree in Business Low and Economics at Bocconi, the prestigious  University of Milan, her main activities and responsibilities  covered Monetary policy, Public policy, Financial market analysis, she also worked for the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) in Milan and as a Chartered Accountant as well, for 5 years.
Then she discovered her passion, for public finance, institutions and politics.
Paola is a young lady who wants to know and learn about the american political system up close. She wants to know how American Democracy works and, under this vision, begins her journey in the most violent electoral campaign of all times and follows all the phases of the Trump Parable.
Paola, in her double role as an economist and  journalist, is increasingly convinced that "Trump's economic program is the most effective, especially, where taxes are concerned.
Following the campaign, Paola understands Trump more closely ,as well as, those Americans willing to vote  for him.
She continues from overseas, in her collaboration with "Il Tempo" (Rome daily) to which she sends her articles from the U.S.,  out of the chorus.
In her articles, with the watchful eye of a reporter and despite, all odds against, both in the U.S. and  in Europe, she states with certainty that "Trump will win".
Her Editor, although publishes,  all of her reports, is rather perplexed, there are Italians and  Europeans,  as well as, Americans who do not believe in this "Trump Phenomenon".
Paola, on the other hand, works against the vulgate of most European and American media, which, she says, mix up  militancy with the facts.
After the experience of the U.S. elections, Paola returns to Italy, to regain her previous job at the Chamber of Deputies as a counsellor for the opposition whip and writes a book dedicated to the: unparalleled experience of the American presidential elections; communication strategies; use of social networks;  the Victory of Donald Trump, "a Phenomenon that exists and yet no one wants to understand", as Paola says.
In the book, Paola describes her exciting journey from one corner of the U.S. to another, unveiling the true and profound background of the American soul, the evasive, magmatic under soil: from the cobbled heart of the metropolis that never sleeps,  to the quiet dust of the suburbs, and, Silicon Valley clusters to the melting pot of the dirty ghettos where life flows boring and desperate.
The title of the book, picked  up by the Editor, "Attaccateve al Trump" is a joke of words, almost untranslatable in English because it uses a very Roman expression "attaccateve al tranve" that literally says "cling to the tram". It is an expression of the Roman dialect that describes the despair of those who, forced to bear something that they do not share in views, have to survive with their frustration, and, therefore cannot help but to cling to the first opportunity  that passes their way...
